Angus Jordan: Farmhand faces Taree court pleading guilty to stalking and intimidation while on court intensive correction order

A Mid-North Coast farmhand ordered to be of good behaviour after an assault and a bag snatch theft at Port Macquarie has landed back in court for intimidating his pregnant partner.
Angus Jordan previously stole a 56-year-old woman’s handbag and was later caught with a knife down his pants. He said he took the bag to pay for food.
Jordan was placed on court orders and warned to be of good behaviour, but reoffended a month after his arrest, Port Macquarie Local Court heard in October 2022.
He was involved in a group attack – kicking, punching and elbowing a man in the head and torso before taking the victim’s wallet. He was also struck by a baseball bat during the attack.
The 22-year-old faced Taree Local Court on April 11. Jordan previously pleaded not guilty to stalking and intimidation, but changed the plea to guilty after police’s version of events – the facts – were amended.
Defence lawyer Susanna Gidlow told the court during prior proceedings the assault and theft offending was “opportunistic” and Jordan had “good prospects of rehabilitation” after making “significant changes”.
Jordan works as a farmhand at Wherrol Flat, about 20km northwest of Wingham, according to court documents.
Police were called to the Mount George home Jordan and a woman shared in the early hours of September 22 last year.
The couple had been in a relationship for about a year and were expecting a child, police state.
The woman told Jordan to sleep on the lounge and when she got up later in the evening she found him pacing the house.
Police state Jordan began swearing and yelled: “If I can’t get any sleep, then you can’t either.”
Jordan was on a court intensive correction order at the time.
Magistrate Brian van Zuylen adjourned the case for sentencing on June 4.
