Disturbing sex charges levelled at a well-known Mid-North Coast psychologist – allegedly involving the same male complainant – will never be finalised in court due to the accused dying amid proceedings.
Allan Graham Anderson operated a psychology practice in South Kempsey for several years and also worked at the Mid-North Coast Correctional Centre.
He was arrested on June 12 this year and charged with sexually touching a male without consent between June 10, 2023 and June 1, 2025.
The 82-year-old was also charged with distributing intimate images of the same person between April 1, 2025 and April 30, 2025.
He was also charged with supplying a prohibited drug.
Anderson was granted bail and his case adjourned but when it came back before the magistrate at Port Macquarie on September 18, it was heard he was unable to attend as he was in hospital.
It has since been revealed that he died later that month and as a result the three charges against him were dismissed.
His funeral notice featured an old black and white image and described him as “late of Port Macquarie and formerly of Forster and Kempsey”.
The notice stated his service was private and that he passed away peacefully on September 24, aged 82.
“The beloved partner of Djon (deceased)”.
In May last year Anderson appeared in an ABC article about the mental health crisis facing regional Australia saying some of his patients were recently paroled prisoners who needed to see a psychologist as part of their release, but couldn’t pay him anything in addition to the Medicare rebate.
