A scooter delivery rider suffered significant leg injuries after a collision with a car close to Manly ferry wharf on Wednesday afternoon.
The rider, 21, was thrown off his bike by the impact on West Esplanade at about 1.45pm.
Police took away the driver of the white Toyota sedan for questioning at nearby Manly police station.
It is understood the car was being used to provide rideshare services.
There was significant damage to the Toyota’s front bumper, on the passenger side.
The collision occurred metres from a major public bus terminus, just west of the wharf at Manly Cove.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the rider was treated for leg injures and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
Soon after the collision a number of other delivery riders arrived to help their colleague.
Northern Beaches Police confirmed they had started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“Inquiries are ongoing,” a spokesman said.
