A woman in her 80s had to be freed from her car after she was injured in a three-vehicle crash on the northern beaches.
She was driving a Mazda station wagon that was involved in a rear-end crash with a Subaru hatchback on Warringah Rd, in Forestville, on Thursday afternoon.
One of the vehicles then struck a boat and trailer, being towed by a Ford Ranger ute, outside the Metro petrol station.
The incident, at 2.10pm, caused eastbound traffic to snarl back for about 4km, across the Roseville Bridge, and into Roseville Chase.
Police closed two of the three eastbound lanes while NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue NSW officers worked to stabilise the injured woman, who was still behind the wheel of her car.
She had to be assisted from the Mazda by emergency services personnel.
A man in his 30s, who was driving the Subaru, was able to exit his car and was assessed at the roadside by a paramedic.
Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Northern Beaches Hospital in nearby Frenchs Forest.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said both drivers suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the ute was not injured, but the damaged boat and trailer were taken from the crash scene on a flat-bed truck.
NSW Fire and Rescue’s Forestville brigade was called out to assist at the crash site and clean up the resultant oil spill.
