Wakehurst Parkway: Woman killed in head-on road crash during Sydney thunderstorms

A woman was killed in a road crash on the northern beaches late on Monday afternoon.
She was the driver of a car involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle on the Wakehurst Parkway.
The crash occurred during wet weather at about 4.30pm on a two-lane bridge over Middle Creek, just north of the Sydney Sports Academy at North Narrabeen.
Northern Beaches Police said the woman, the only occupant of the car, died at the scene.
The male driver, the sole occupant of the other car, was not injured.
NSW Ambulance said they took him to Northern Beaches Hospital where he will undergo mandatory alcohol and drug testing.
Police have set up a crime scene as police crash investigators begin an examination into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Wakehurst Parkway is closed in both directions, north of Frecnchs Forest, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
