Wakehurst Parkway: female motorcyclist badly hurt in head-on crash with car

A woman was rushed to hospital after her motorcycle and a car collided on Wakehurst Parkway, throwing Thursday morning peak into chaos.

A woman on a motorcycle has been badly hurt in a collision with a car on a major northern beaches route on Thursday morning.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was riding on Wakehurst Parkway, near the NSW Academy of Sport at North Narrabeen just after 8am.

Two ambulances were sent to the crash site near the bridge over Middle Creek.

The citybound lanes were closed and motorists were advised to use Pittwater Rd if they were heading south.

The woman suffered serious leg injuries and was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

NSW Police Crash Investigation Unit officers were at the scene.
