Police allege he had sexual intercourse with the female victim at North Narrabeen, without her consent, in December last year.

Mr Rector has been in custody since being arrested on Thursday last week.

He is also charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to another woman at Marrickville on August 31 last year.

A police bail document tendered to court said the Marrickville woman allegedly suffered a bruised and bleeding nose as well as a swollen cheek.

Mr Rector is also charged with six counts of common assault in relation to both women, ranging between August 17 last year and January 31 this year.

The American man is also charged with three counts of stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm, between December 22 last year and January 8 this year.

He is also charged with one count of sexually touch another person without consent; one count of supply prohibited drug (anabolic steroidal agent) and; one count of use a carriage service to menace/harass/offend between December 1 and December 31 last year.

Through a Legal Aid solicitor, Mr Rector, whose tourist visa expires next month, asked Magistrate Michelle Goodwin to be released on bail.

He offered to surrender his passport and live at a friend’s home in Chiswick, located in Sydney’s inner west.

The solicitor said Mr Rector was a man of good character who had only one matter on his US police record — public intoxication.

“I’m told his defence is one of consent,” the solicitor said.

Police prosecutor John Sharpin opposed bail.

Sgt Sharpin said there was a likelihood of further offending by Mr Rector and there were concerns for the safety of witnesses.

“These offences have all the hallmarks of controlling, domestic violence.

“Police have concerns the accused had plans to leave the country.

“Given the seriousness of the allegations and the likelihood of a custodial sentence, bail is opposed,” Sgt Sharpin told the court.

Ms Goodwin said there was a “serious risk” of Mr Rector interfering with witnesses.

She formally refused bail and remanded Mr Rector in custody to Manly Local Court on April 9.

No pleas have been entered.
