A LARGE school of sharks honed in on Manly’s Cabbage Tree Bay over the weekend — and it was all captured on film.
Manly’s Alex Holland filmed the breathtaking moment a group of sharks swam alongside him.
Mr Holland, who saw the juvenile dusky whalers on both Friday and Saturday, said: “I could count eight to 10 at any one time.”
He said some people estimated there were up to 40 of the non-threatening sharks in the marine reserve.
“It was just awesome to see the sharks — they have quite an iconic shape. Even if they are quite small, they have this amazing presence to them,” he said.
“They were chilling out, doing their own thing.”
Mr Holland, a regular snorkeller in the area, said visibility and sunlight were “10 out of 10”, making it very easy to see the creatures.
Fellow snorkeller and diver Elaine de Jager, of Avalon, also saw the sharks on the weekend.
Mrs de Jager said she swam at the spot every day and believed this was the clearest the water had been in 10 months.
“It’s amazing at the moment,” Mrs de Jager said.
Along with photographing the dusky whaler sharks, Mrs de Jager also snapped photos of wobbegong sharks.
