A man with a conviction for assaulting police has been charged with threatening and intimidating off-duty officers on their way home after finishing their shifts.
Tyson Dellosta, 23, of Mona Vale, is also accused of intimidating two on-duty officers in the street outside Dee Why police station.
Mr Dellosta pleaded not guilty in Manly Local Court on Wednesday to four counts of intimidate police officer in execution of their duty, and one count each of affray and behave in an offensive manner.
Documents tendered to court said the alleged incidents occurred between 6pm and 6.15pm on January 23 near the corner of Fisher Rd and St David Ave, the location of Dee Why police station.
The documents alleged that Mr Dellosta threatened “unlawful violence towards two constables”.
A bail document tendered to court said the offence “relates to the intimidation of two off-duty police officers at the conclusion of their shift and two on-duty officers attempting to speak to him about the alleged offence.”
The document also said that Mr Dellosta was currently on parole after serving 12 months of a two-year sentence for offences including violence against police.
Dellosta was arrested on the current charges on Tuesday after he presented himself to Manly police station.
In court on Wednesday Mr Dellosta did not apply for bail. He will be back in Manly Local Court on February 19.
On New Year’s Eve in 2018, Dellosta was charged after he punched and injured a police officer during a wild brawl at Dee Why.
Mr Dellosta had to be subdued using capsicum spray after lashing out at police after they pulled over a stolen VW ute in James Meehan Reserve, behind the Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club.
Police had asked the female driver of ute to stop, but it drove off quickly before pulling into the car park surf club at 2pm and crashing into a parked car.
When police tried to arrest the occupants of the VW — two women and three men — they resisted arrest and assaulted two officers.
Dellosta pleaded guilty to five charges including two counts of assaulting a police officer. He was given a non-parole period of 10 months.
