Three men charged after they were allegedly caught on CCTV kicking, punching and stomping a man at a northern beaches service station were in Manly Local Court on Wednesday.
Police allege the security camera footage allegedly shows Matthew Hayden Wright, 27, of Dee Why; Jack Edward Degotardi, 26, of Avalon Beach and Jake Matthews, 26, of Newport bashing a 42-year-old man late on a Sunday night outside the 7/11 petrol outlet at Newport.
Colin Gaddes, 42, of Newport, was left with a broken arm, smashed teeth and numerous cuts and bruises after the alleged assault between 11.20pm and 11.30pm on October 7.
The three alleged attackers were each charged with one count of reckless grievous bodily harm in company and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others.
They were all also charged with one count of affray and one count of larceny.
Northern Beaches detectives will allege the men were seen throwing around packets of frozen pilchards they took from a fishing bait freezer cabinet outside the 7/11 store in Barrenjoey Rd.
It will be alleged the victim said something to the men about their behaviour before the alleged assault took place.
CCTV footage shows Mr Gaddes trying to fight off three men as they repeatedly punch, kick and stomp on his head and body.
Mr Wright has already pleaded not guilty to the reckless grievous bodily harm, assault and affray charges. He pleaded guilty to the larceny charge.
A solicitor for Mr Degotardi, who is yet to enter a plea, told the court on Wednesday that his client was currently in negotiations about a plea offer.
Mr Matthews’ solicitor told the court that his client, who has not yet entered a plea, had not yet seen the CCTV footage due to a technical issue.
Mr Wright is due back in court on Thursday.
Mr Matthews is back before the court on January 31 for plea or mention while Mr Degotardi’s matter was adjourned to February 6 for plea or mention.
Bail for all three continues.
