Police are hunting two males after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach at a block of flats on Barrenjoey Rd, Newport.

A teenager needed emergency surgery after being stabbed in the stomach on the northern beaches.
The boy, 17, was attacked at a block of units at Newport at 9.15pm last night.
Police said it was not a random attack.
Witnesses told police the teenager, who is from the northern beaches, was in a carpark at the back of the unit block on Barrenjoey Rd when he was stabbed by two unknown males.
The attackers then ran off.
The victim suffered a stab wound to his stomach and an arm.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he had surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.
Northern Beaches Police crime manager Mick Boutouridis said officers had not yet been able to interview the victim to get more details of the stabbing.
“We do not believe that it was a random attack,” Chief Inspector Boutouridis said.
Detectives from Northern Beaches Police Area Command are investigating.
Two detectives doorknocked the unit block, and surrounding businesses, this morning.
Inspector Boutouridis urged the public assist police.
“This young person was very lucky,” he said. “The outcome for him could have been much worse.
“We encourage people who either saw or heard something to come forward. perhaps they know the two people we want to speak to.
“They can log on to the Crime Stoppers website and leave information anonymously if they have any concerns.”
