SCAMMERS have targeted a bitcoin owner who is now $10,000 poorer.

Between 4pm and 4.04pm on Sunday, the victim was checking his bitcoin account on a website called My Ether Wallet. While doing so he was redirected to another similar-sounding website called My Etner Wallet.

He typed in his password to unlock the wallet and expected a page to open that showed his balance. That did not happen.

Concerned, the man went to a website that allowed him to view his assets — but not access them.

He then saw that the one bitcoin in his account — valued at $10,000 — had been drained in the space of four minutes.
