Traffic was severely disrupted when brigades from the Rural Fire Service and NSW Fire and Rescue answered calls from motorists about sheets of building material that had fallen on to Mona Vale Rd, near Tumbarra Rd, during Friday morning’s commuter peak. initial concerns that the sheeting may have been made of asbestos were ruled out..

QUEENSCLIFF

A wallet containing $1000 and five Vietnam War medals were among multiple items stolen from a car parked in Queenscliff Rd. Thieves broke into the Ford station wagon by smashing a window. They also made off with an iPad, jacket, shoes, a satchel bag and several items of clothing some time between 6pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday.

MANLY VALE

Emergency services were called to a business in Kenneth Rd when a woman was hurt after rolling down a flight of 17 stairs on Wednesday morning. The woman was walking towards the top of the stairs, while using a mobile phone, when she tripped on the top stair. A witness saw the woman tumble down the stairs before landing at the base of the steps face-up. She was taken by ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital.

BALGOWLAH HEIGHTS

Ambulance paramedics and police were called to a building site on Tuesday after a tradie, who had pricked his finger on a nail gun, fainted at the sight of his own blood. The 23-year-old man fell backwards and cut hit his head on scaffolding. He was taken to hospital for treatment and sent home the same day.

NORTH NARRABEEN

Two 4WD vehicles, including a luxury Lexus, became bogged on the beach after a night time fishing trip went wrong. About midnight on Tuesday a 26-year-old-man from Wiley Park drove his Lexus 470 onto North Narrabeen Beach to drop fishing equipment on the sand. His vehicle was soon bogged. He and his mates remained on the beach for

several hours, fishing, before one of the other men drove his Toyota HiLux onto the beach in

an effort to tow the Lexus free. His vehicle also became bogged. About 7am police arranged for a tow truck to retrieve the vehicles.

DEE WHY

Police received multiple calls about a naked man running along Pittwater Rd last Saturday night. Officers found the nude runner striding along near May Rd at about 10pm. The incoherent 22-year-old was unable to tell police who he was, or where he had come from. As a result, he was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital where he was sedated and kept in for the

night.
