FRESH from signing his new multi-million dollar deal that will keep him at the Sea Eagles until the end of 2026, Jake Trbojevic has revealed why he is so excited about 2020 at the club he loves.
“There is a long way to go but you get confidence from the way we played last season and the fact we played semi-finals footy,” the star forward told Blindside.
“It makes you hungry the fact that we really improved last year and played in some big games.
“You just want to work harder because you know what it takes.”
And a very significant reason for his positive outlook was the Des Hasler factor.
“It’s been great working under him,” Trbojevic said of the coach who came home to the peninsula this year and revived the fortunes of the club.
“He’s obviously a great leader, he’s got a lot of experience and works extremely hard.
”Everyone is really well prepared going into games.
“You get confidence from that knowing you have worked so hard during the week on the back of his leadership.
“And playing under him we’ve really improved as a side.
“That’s been exciting and hopefully next year we keep building on that and get better.”
Trbojevic will be in a sling for the next month following shoulder surgery before he gets stuck right into physio.
STAY IN CONTACT
LEADING northern beaches sports physician Dr Luke Inman started an important debate when he raised the issue about the dangers of concussion in young people.
But he was not telling children to avoid playing contact sport – far from it.
“There are great and well-known benefits of playing sport that far outweigh those risks we are talking about,” Dr Inman said.
In an age with growing numbers of obesity, Dr Inman is passionate about people exercising, but wants to help to ensure all of this activity is as safe and as pain free as possible.
“Am I fearful of my kids playing the sport? I’m not as long as they do it safely,” Dr Inman said.
“I have two young boys aged eight and five who play multiple contact sports on the northern beaches.
“And I would encourage parents to continue allowing their children to participate in these sports.”
