A world class strike from Scott Balderson saw Manly United outclass Parramatta FC 3-1 on Sunday at Melita Stadium.
Balderson, who 12 months ago was playing park football for Pittwater RSL FC in the MWFA Premier League, is in career best form.
The 27-year-old, who made one appearance for the Newcastle Jets in the A-League back in 2010, opened the scoring on 31 minutes.
After finding space outside the box, Balderson thumped an absolute rocket which flew past Ryan Norval.
Dejan Pandurevic doubled United’s lead after the break, only to see the home side peg one back on 63 minutes via Daniel Rezo.
United’s Brendan Cholakian sealed the result with a tidy finish late on.
Manly coach Warren Grieve was ecstatic with the team’s performance
“Very proud of the boys. We worked hard in the lead up because it’s difficult to play on a synthetic pitch and come to a grass field with a bit of water underneath,’’ he said.
“It is a different type of game but I thought the boys were absolutely brilliant.
“Recruitment at the start of the season has given us depth and we’ve had players that have had to step out.
