While rugby league has had a drama-charged off-season, Sea Eagles stars Jake and Tom Trbojevic have done their bit to restore the tarnished reputation of the game.
Last Saturday Alice Dugan, a lifelong Manly fan who has been a club member for more than 50 years, was given a surprise 90th birthday party at the Wakehurst Golf Club where the brothers are members.
“They played a round of golf that morning and then hung around to surprise my nan at her party,” said Alice’s granddaughter Danielle Hope.
“It was such a beautiful moment she will cherish forever, something that money can’t buy. “We cannot thank those boys enough for taking the time out of their day.
“She can’t stop talking about their guest appearance and how lucky she is that they came to her party.
“Simply in her words ‘the two very best Manly players, such lovely boys.’”
Danielle said the Sea Eagles should be very proud of the Trbojevic brothers.
The Manly Daily passed on the sincere thanks from Alice’s family to Jake and Tom “for their time and dedication to a lifelong fan that will be forever remembered.”
But the gesture done with no fanfare would be no surprise to anyone that knows them.
