SEA Eagle forward Curtis Sironen is undergoing surgery today after tearing his pectoral muscle in Sunday’s impressive win over the Sharks.
The extent of the injury was revealed following scans on Monday
The club hopes he will be back on the field by round 26, meaning he would miss nine games.
It is a cruel blow for Sironen and the Sea Eagles as he has been in terrific form and made a big impact against the Sharks.
“Everything’s going all right at the moment, unfortunately we lost ‘Sirro’ on the weekend,” said teammate Darcy Lussick.
“He has been outstanding this year, he’s really found his feet over here.”
For Saturday’s game against the Warriors in Perth, Lewis Brown replaces Sironen in the starting pack and Cameron Cullen comes onto the bench.
The game kicks off at 5.30pm .
