A close-knit team of young mates has rewritten their club’s history at the 51st Champion of Champions Finals at Valentine Sports Park.

The Dee Why FC under 12s beat the Kellyville Kolts to claim the club’s first title at the prestigious Football NSW tournament.

The 4-0 victory came two years after the club created an academy to help develop young talent in the area and keep kids in the game longer.

“They have done us all proud. The boys were just brilliant,’’ said coach Ryan Doidge on Sunday.

“We scored in the first minute and the boys played as a team.’’

Dee Why’s Max Kruznier scored two goals with Max Winter and Banjo Letts firing one in each.

“We are very close friends,’’ said captain and centre back Orson Reid.

“We played really hard for the full match.

“I was quite a surprise to win but we have worked so hard to get to this tournament.’’

The team earlier this year finished as premiers in the Manly Warringah Football Association competition.

In all, 19 deciders were played at the 51st Football NSW’s Champion of Champions finals at Valentine Sports Park.

The event is grass root football’s most prestigious tournaments with teams from across NSW participating.

Manly Football Association were big winners with four of their five teams taking out Champion of Champions titles.

Football South Coast had three clubs win while Northern Suburbs, St George FA and Sutherland Shire FA took out two divisions each.
