South Curl Curl Beach: Man in 60s dies after being pulled from the surf on Tuesday morning

A man could not be revived after he was found floating in the surf at South Curl Curl Beach.

A man has died after being pulled from the surf on the northern beaches on Tuesday morning.

The man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was seen in the water at South Curl Curl Beach at about 7.40am.

He was carried onto the sand by members of the public, but was unresponsive.

Despite the best efforts to revive the man by NSW Ambulance paramedics and other emergency services, he could not be revived.

The NSW Ambulance rescue helicopter, with a doctor and advanced paramedic on-board, were called to the scene. The helicopter landed on Adams Street Reserve at Curl Curl.

The beach was closed on Tuesday morning by Northern Beaches Council lifeguards due to dangerous surf.

Northern Beaches Police have started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be prepared for the NSW Coroner.
