A popular Sydney restaurant which often sees queues of customers, is opening a second venue in Manly.
Kazzi Beach Greek is opening on the oceanfront at North Steyne and is promising to bring a true Greek island taverna holiday experience to the peninsula.
Owner and entrepreneur Peter Papas opened his first venue in Balmoral three and a half years ago.
“It’s good for us in terms of growing and employing people and it brings choice and something new to Manly during a tough time for everyone,” Mr Papas, a proud Greek-Australian, said.
“We seem to have met the market in Balmoral right through COVID.
“And most importantly provided a sense of community.
“We hope to achieve the same in Manly and become a strong part of the local community.”
Mr Papas said they were already popular as a takeaway service so when the pandemic hit that part of the business increased.
One of the most popular items on the menu in the Wrap ‘N’ Run with the restaurant selling mor ethan 35,000 last year.
He said the restaurant pays homage to his heritage and is themed on the Greek island of his grandparents. He said when people come “they feel they belong to something”.
Although now living in Mosman, Mr Papas has lived in Manly on and off including at North Steyne, just a few buildings south of the new venue.
He believes his beach taverna theme will work well there.
“When people think of the Greek islands they think of the beach.
“Manly is perfect for us.”
As well as barista brewed coffee it will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Mr Papas said work has begun on the North Steyne venue and he expects it to open in late October or November.
Meanwhile, a new health fast food venue is opening in Manly.
Oakberry Acai has moved into the space formerly held by Peanut Butter Love in Market La, which was unable to survive COVID-19.
The new eatery will sell bowls and smoothies that include açaí berries which are the fruits from the açaí palm tree, which is meant to have great health benefits.
Other venues are at Bondi Beach, Chatswood and Macquarie Park.
