Quakers Hat Brewing opens bar in Manly Vale

You’d never find this new bar attached to a micro brewery if you didn’t know it existed. Check out the latest craft beer venue on the northern beaches.

A micro brewery hidden away in a little known industrial estate is the latest craft beer offering to open on the northern beaches.

Quakers Hat is the brainchild of the Robinson family, and started as a home beer brewing hobby.

Cam Robinson, 31, said he and his brother Nick, 29, had his dad, known as Davo, 69, started brewing at the family home in Quakers Hat Bay in Mosman – hence the name – a few years ago.

Then his father decided he wanted to turn his space in the Manly Grove Business Park at the end of a cul-de-sac in Campbell Pd, from a furniture restoring business into a brewery.

After a successful year producing around 1000 litres of beer a week for local bottle shops, they’ve decided to open a taphouse offering five core beers and a “beer of the month”.

“We are not at the far end of the craft beer section, there’s no crazy flavours,” Cam Robinson said.

“It’s simple, traditional beer done well.

“It’s approachable.”

Mr Robinson, who previously had a removal business, is now working in the brewery and taphouse, along with his father, brother and mum Sue, who has devised the menu.

They will be offering various cheese and meat platters, as well as pizzas from a local operator.

Eventually they want to introduce live music and open mic nights.

Nearby Brookvale is home to a growing number of craft beer breweries.

One of them is Dad ‘n’ Dave, which also began life as a father and son home brewing hobby.

Mr Robinson said even though they were slightly away from the other breweries, he thought they might attract some of those customers.

However, he said that they were hoping to attract some interest from the thousands of residents in the Manly Vale area, who might appreciate a “quirky, local”.

The taphouse will be open Friday from 5pm to 9pm and Saturdays from 1pm to 9pm.

Eventually they will look to expand their opening days.
