Pittwater Rd, Narrabeen: Woman, 68, dies after road crash

A woman has died in hospital just hours after a car crashed into a brick fence and a power pole on the northern beaches.

A woman, 68, has died in hospital just hours after a car hit a brick fence on the northern beaches on Tuesday afternoon.

The station wagon veered off Pittwater Rd at Narrabeen just after 2.30pm.

NSW Fire and Rescue officers from nearby Narrabeen fire station rushed to the site near the intersection with Mactier St and began CPR on the woman.

She was the driver and sole occupant of the Kia SUV.

The car also hit a power pole, bringing down power lines.

The woman was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics in a critical condition, with a police escort.

Police said the woman died a short time later.

A medical team from the NSW Ambulance helicopter assisted with treating and stabilising the patient before she was transported to hospital in an ambulance.

Two of three southbound lanes on Pittwater Rd were closed.

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command have established a crime as inquiries continue.
