Pittwater Rd, Mona Vale: Man killed in two-car crash on Sydney’s northern beaches
A man is dead and another in hospital after two cars crashed at a busy intersection on Sydney’s northern beaches.

A man has died in a two-car crash on Sydney’s northern beaches.
The collision occurred at about 2.15pm on busy Pittwater Rd at Mona Vale on Wednesday with four ambulances and a CareFlight rescue helicopter on the scene.
Police reported that the dead man was a driver of one of the vehicles.
He had been trapped inside the wreckage, but could not be saved by emergency services personnel.
One of the vehicles ended up on its roof on a grass bank by the side of the road, and has been covered by a tarpaulin.
It is understood a man in his 80s may have suffered a medical episode as he drove a Mazda hatchback from the car park at the Mona Vale Bowling Club on the eastern side of Pittwater Rd.
The hatchback was struck, as he slewed across the road at right angles, by a Nissan SUV, flipping the hatchback onto its roof. The driver of the Nissan was able to leave his vehicle. he was taken, in a stable condition, to Royal North Shore Hospital.
Police have started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash which occurred near the intersection with Vineyard St, opposite the Mona Vale Skate Park.
They are urging anyone who may have seen the incident, or has dashcam footage of the collision, to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Road closures have been in place since the accident however two northbound lanes are now open.
Meanwhile a second accident on Mona Vale Rd in St Ives, northbound near Palm St, occurred around 4pm on Wednesday.
A car with P-plates flipped in the three car accident with further delays in both directions.
