HERE’S your easy to keep guide to everything you need to know about the new Northern Beaches Hospital:

The new hospital will cater for public and private patients.

The hospital has 488 beds — 60 per cent public and 40 per cent private.

Services include surgery, emergency, intensive care, cardiac, birthing, paediatrics, mental health, renal, cancer care and outpatients.

There is also imaging, pathology and pharmacy on site.

Everyone who arrives at the 50-bed Emergency Department will be treated for free as a public patient.

If admitted it is the patient’s choice to use private health insurance and be admitted as a private patient or be admitted as a public patient.

In an emergency call Triple triple-0 or if taking your own transport, vehicle access is via Frenchs Forest Rd, where there is a 1400-space car park.

Car park fees: Up to 15 minutes it’s free, up to one hour the cost is $6.70, up to two hours $9.90, up to three hours $13.30, up to four hours $15.50, up to five hours $17.80, more than five hours $19.90, maximum daily fee $19.90. There are some concessions. If you think you are eligible go to concierge inside the main hospital entrance.

There are 1200 new public bus services a week connecting peninsula suburbs to the hospital.

Bus routes 136, 141, 169, 193 and 280 stop out the front of the hospital on Frenchs Forest Rd. Services from these stops run to Dee Why, Warringah Mall, Manly, Chatswood, Belrose and the City.

The new route 141 connects Manly, Seaforth and Belrose to the hospital.

New route 193, with 460 services, runs through Brookvale, Narraweena and Belrose to the hospital.

Passengers coming from the north can transfer at Dee Why between the B-Line, 199 and L90 buses to route 136 services.

Meet the new Northern Beaches Hospital ED bosses

A not-for-profit shuttle bus will run four return journeys from Mona Vale Hospital to Northern Beaches Hospital. The fares are $6 each way. To be picked up from home the cost is $8 each way. For Easylink bookings call 9919 0700.
