NSW Premier Mike Baird’s most memorable posts on social media
FROM his thoughts on The Bachelor to greyhound racing, here are Mike Baird’s most memorable social media posts.
Manly
Don't miss out on the headlines from Manly. Followed categories will be added to My News.
THINK what you will about Mike Baird — who resigned as NSW premier on Thursday.
Yes, he divided opinion among his constituents, but one thing you can’t accuse him of being is old-fashioned.
Mr Baird will go down as one of the most tech-savvy premiers we’ve seen, with his social media posts the stuff of legend.
1. The Bachelor tweets
Who could forget Baird’s live tweets on The Bachelor television show last September? Many would argue that Baird’s live tweets were better than the show itself. In the tweets, Baird didn’t hold back on what he thought about then-bachelor Sam.
Stuck at home on the couch with man-flu. Daughters have hijacked the TV and are watching The Bachelor. Going to be a loooong night.

He seems very sincere for a guy who is two-timing, live on TV. This is only a 30 minute show, right? #TheBachelorAU

Hang on. There's a bachelorette?! Why don't they just hook her up with this guy and save us all some time. #TheBachelorAU

2. Baird’s ‘Graffiti Removal Day’ post
It was one of Mr Baird’s most controversial posts — and many people let rip at him over it. In October, 2016 Mr Baird thought it would be a good idea to remind people of NSW’s graffiti removal day. He did so by standing in front of a mural depicting the premier enjoying a glass of Penfolds grange and a cigar in a casino at 1:31am, a minute after the lockout time that was controversially imposed in 2014. Mr Baird was crucified for appearing to mock the piece of artwork as “graffiti” ... the anger swelled after people realised the mural had been removed more than five months earlier.
3. Taylor Swift concert
Mr Baird has always prided himself on being a family man — a good example of that was shown in one of his November, 2015 posts. The post also showed he’s not out of touch with what music kids are listening to nowadays. Joined by one of his daughters, Mr Baird posted a selfie to his Facebook page while at a Taylor Swift concert. He captioned it with: “A great thing about having daughters: you can pretend THEY’RE the reason you are at the Taylor Swift concert. #shakeitoff”
4. Baird in a Queensland jersey
There’s no doubt Mr Baird has had some tough days in office as the NSW Premier. But in his own words, the ‘worst day ever’ was when he had to wear a Queensland rugby league jersey ... in parliament after losing a bet.

5. Baird’s broken back
When you get an injury, the least you could hope for is that there’s a cool story behind it. Unfortunately for Mr Baird, that wasn’t the case when he slipped and fractured his back while trying to get a late-night glass of water. Props for his honesty on the injury though.
6. Greyhound racing ban
In July, 2016 Mr Baird announced via Facebook that he would be putting an end to Facebook. The controversial post drew more than 11,000 comments. The premier reversed the decision in October.
