Northern Beaches: Second private hospital set to open in 2021 at Frenchs Forest

A second private hospital is set to open in Frenchs Forest and will be just 500m from the recently-opened Northern Beaches Hospital. Now medical services interested in leasing a floor at the $13m facility are being encouraged to make offers of interest.

A SECOND private hospital for Frenchs Forest is due to open in 2021 and could be competing for business with Northern Beaches Hospital, just 500m away.

The $13m hospital in Tilley Lane, will have 2000 sqm of space, with retail on the ground level, four operating floors, a 72-space underground car park and a terrace for staff.

Now medical services interested in leasing a floor are being encouraged to make offers of interest before the August 30 deadline.

Trevor Cain, principal and head of commercial at Ray White Frenchs Forest which is running the pre-construction leasing campaign, said marketing intelligence showed there was “unmet demand” for private health services on the northern beaches.

“We know there is unmet demand and ultimately people will need these services,” he said.

“Frenchs Forest is fast becoming a medical hub.

“More people will be making the journey to Frenchs Forest rather than going outside of the beaches.”

Mr Cain added that Northern Beaches Council has approved the site as a hospital and had discussed the possibility of it being used for surgery and inpatient beds.

Permission for specific medical services can only be granted just before opening.

Mr Cain said he thought the building would be well suited to day surgery.

He said other services that data suggested were in demand are urology, chemotherapy, renal medicine, ophthalmology, psychiatry and endoscopy.

Mr Cain said with the Beaches Link tunnel on the horizon it would make Frenchs Forest easily accessible for people living as far away as Balmain and the Inner West.

Frenchs Forest will be very accessible after he tunnel is completed.

He said there had been some interest from potential leaseholders, but they wanted to get the anchor tenants in place before the build begins later this year, so it can be built to specification.

A spokesman for Northern Beaches Hospital said it offers comprehensive services for public and private patients.
