A COVID-19 testing clinic has opened today at Brookvale Community Health Centre opposite Warringah Mall.
The site has been chosen by clinical staff in response to increased demand for testing in the area and to reduce waiting times for testing on the northern beaches.
A previous proposal to set up a clinic near Curl Curl North Public School saw opposition from concerned parents.
Public health experts advise that increased testing is essential as restrictions are eased to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The clinic will operate between 8am and 6pm seven days a week and testing is free, as it is at the 60 other clinics run by NSW Health.
No referral from a GP is required for those attending the testing clinic. People who have symptoms should wear a surgical face mask, if possible, and practise social distancing when travelling to the testing centre.
A spokesman from Northern Sydney Local Health District said they applauded the thousands of people on the northern beaches who have come forward for COVID-19 testing to date, including those visiting Mona Vale Hospital’s testing clinic which is seeing an average of around 100 people a day.
Northern Beaches Hospital in Frenchs Forest is also seeing up to 250 a day, according to a spokesman.
