Lockdown freedom by November hinges on the young Aussie men

A list of seven pharmacies offering the Covid jab in Manly have been revealed.

The volunteer pharmacists have joined the vaccination rollout, with more coming online across the northern beaches within days.

Lachlan Rose from Manly Vale Pharmacy said they were offering AstraZeneca and were already fully booked until August 20.

They opened bookings last Friday and already had 300 appointments booked. He will be administering the vaccine from tomorrow.

“We’ve had a huge response that we did not expect,” he said.

He urged people to book online though individual pharmacy websites or via www.findapharmacy.com.au.

He said he was excited to be part of the grassroots rollout.

“We are pleased to be onboard,” he said. “We have been waiting since February.”

In June this year just 49 pharmacies around Australia had taken up the opportunity to vaccinate people, by August nearly 6,000 pharmacies had registered. The northern beaches will have pharmacists administering vaccinations from Manly to Palm Beach.

Manly MP James Griffin said some of the pharmacists they were “excited” to be part of the rollout.

“There’s a ‘we can do this attitude’,” he said.

Individuals who meet the current eligibility criteria for the Covid vaccine and who don’t have a Medicare card will now be able to receive their free vaccine at their local community pharmacy.

The Federal Government’s newly-released vaccination data, in comparison to Australian Bureau of Statistics’ regional statistical area information, updated in 2019, has been used to determine the percentage of residents in your area vaccinated for Covid-19.

Statistical Area data may be outdated since the completion of 2019 ABS report in regards to actual population.

The Ministry of Health has also updated the number of Covid-19 vaccine clinics available to the public across the state, with a total of 2705 jab hubs in NSW to date, as 3225 active cases of Covid-19 are recorded across the state — Scroll down to see the interactive map of cases per suburb.

Meanwhile, the 2170 postcode — making up the Liverpool, Moorebank, Casula, Prestons, Chipping Norton, Lurnea, Warwick Farm, Mount Pritchard and Hammondville areas — has the highest number of clinics open to the public with 78 places to get the jab.

Meanwhile, the 2200 postcode of Bankstown, Condell Park and Mount Lewis has 43 clinics open to administer jabs.

The 2077 and 2560 postcodes have 30 clinics open each, while the 2148 and 2194 postcodes have 29 vaccine hubs respectively.

In the 2165, 2750 and 2195 postcodes, there are a total of 27 clinics open each.

SYDNEY’S NORTHERN BEACHES

Sydney’s Northern Beaches has seen 130,717 people vaccinated with their first dose of the Covid jab, while a further 143,323 people are yet to receive any vaccine.

57,274 people have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 across the region.

The Northern Beaches statistical region centres on the Northern Beaches Council area. The major suburban centres include Manly, Brookvale, Frenchs Forest, Terrey Hills, Narrabeen and Avalon. There are 26 active Covid-19 cases in the Northern Beaches.

Manly MP James Griffin, who this week launched a social media campaign to enourage people to get vaccinated, said the peninsula was in fifth spot in terms of the percentage of people vaccinated.

He said federal statistics show that 47.7 per cent of those eligible have had one dose of the vaccine and 20.9 per cent had had two jabs.

He said it was a promising start for the northern beaches.

“Nearly half of the population has had its first dose,” he said.

“That’s all the more reason to get the job done.

“I want to thank the GPs and in particular the receptionists and administration teams who have gone over and beyond to make this result happen.

“In the coming weeks with pharmacies joining the charge, let’s get that above 60 or 70 per cent.”
