The troubled Northern Beaches Hospital has appointed a new CEO after months of searching for a replacement.
Andrew Newton will start his new role on September 2.
Most recently, he was CEO of Southern NSW Local Health District where he oversaw the public healthcare of more than 200,000 residents across 10 regional hospitals.
As well as major hospital management, he has experience within public health.
“I am excited to be joining Northern Beaches Hospital and look forward to working with such a talented team,” Mr Newton said. “This is a great opportunity to capitalise on the hard work which has been done over the past six months,”
Prior to his role at the Southern NSW Local Health District, Mr Newton was general manager of Westmead and Auburn hospitals, and Blacktown and Mt Druitt hospitals, and fulfilled the same role at Dubbo Base Hospital.
Former CEO, Deborah Latta, was one of a number of senior executives to resign in the weeks and months after the opening of the privately-run hospital last October.
The hospital has been plagued with problems over staff shortages, long waiting times and IT problems.
