Northern beaches coronavirus: Nearly 75 per cent of cases from overseas

An analysis of the latest data has found that a higher number of cases of the coronavirus on the northern beaches were acquired overseas, compared with NSW as a whole.

The overwhelming number of cases of COVID-19 on the northern beaches have been acquired overseas, according to the latest data.

In fact, nearly three quarters of the 151 cases are believed to have come from returning overseas travellers.

Just under a quarter are locally acquired, and about two per cent are from interstate.

Compared with NSW as a whole the peninsula has a much higher number of cases where the disease was acquired overseas.

Across the state about 59 per cent of cases are from an overseas source, 32 per cent locally acquired and 2.2 per cent from interstate.

The latest available figures for COVID-19 by postcode are below. The official figures have been revised down from 152 to 151 from earlier this week.

There are 111 cases obtained from overseas, 36, local, three interstate and one still under investigation.

Around 73.5 per cent of cases come from overseas, 23.8 per cent local, 1.9 per cent from interstate and 0.6 per cent under investigation.

So far, one man, a 76-year-old and a passenger on the Ruby Princess has died of COVID-19 at Northern Beaches Hospital.
