Up to 100 customers of a popular golf shop on the northern beaches have been contacted after a staff member tested positive to COVID-19.
Drummond Golf in Oaks Ave, Dee Why, is advising any customers that visited the store over a two-week period from March 8 to 22 to contact NSW Health for advice and self-isolate for 14 days.
Franchise owner Michael Flynn said they had around 5000 customers on their books but around 100 had been identified as having visited the store in that period.
The staff member returned to work on March 8 after holidaying abroad. On March 16 he went home with coronavirus symptoms and sought a test at Mona Vale Hospital.
Mr Flynn said he had “aggressively” followed all the health advice and shut the doors on Sunday night immediately after being told the staff member had the coronavirus.
“We closed the doors and put every staff member in isolation,” Mr Flynn told the Manly Daily.
“As per the guidelines we made contact with all potential customers. Everyone is aware.
“All staff members have been tested and come back negative and no-one is experiencing symptoms.”
Mr Flynn said the staff member had low to mild symptoms and was recovering at home.
He said they had been told they can re-open on Tuesday, depending on the government restrictions at that time.
He said while golf was currently still permitted as long as social distancing was being observed, he supported the government expert’s advice on restrictions.
“The quicker we react, the quicker we get a result,” Mr Flynn said.
“We will get through this.”
