Wine lovers have the choice of two new wine bars to sip a chilled pinot grigio or rose on a hot summer night. New to Manly is Good Hope, a chic New York-influenced wine bar on Belgrave St.
Owners Michelle and Daniel Collett spent two years looking for the right venue, before settling on a closed Indian restaurant in April 2016. The venue’s name has an interesting backstory, Mrs Collett said.
Good Hope is named after the vines planted in Sydney. The came from the Cape of Good Hope on the First Fleet, she said.
Good Hope has a cellar of 123 boutique wines sourced from Australian wineries. Twenty-six are available by the glass and are priced between $8 and $14.50.
Wine events will start in February, Mrs Collett said.
Good Hope is open from Tuesday to Sunday.

The venue will also hold wine tastings twice a month.
For a caffeine fix, Beco has added a third cafe to its group, joining the original venue in Mona Vale and Allambie Heights, which opened in 2016. Beco@Chelsea has taken over the spot of the iconic Chelsea Tea House in December. Coffee is a boutique blend from Frenchs Forest roasters Little Italy.
