A woman who claims she is “passionate about personal development” on her social media profile allegedly got in her car after a night of drinking at the Belrose Hotel and crashed it in into the venue’s fence.
Natalie Jane Kaglatzis, 48, of Frenchs Forest appeared at Manly Local Court today after being charged with high-range drink driving and having her licence suspended.
According to police reports, officers attended the scene after hearing about the crash at about 12.30am on July 7 on the premises at Hews Parade in Belrose.
Police were told Ms Kaglatzis was driving a Mazda sedan and allegedly reversed the car into a fence while she was attempting to leave the car park.
A police report reveals Ms Kaglatzis returned a positive breath test and was taken to Dee Why Police Station, where she was tested again with a reading of 0.306.
During court proceedings Ms Kaglatzis’s legal representative applied for bail on her behalf but it was denied.
During the brief mention, and in papers lodged to the court it was revealed Ms Kaglatzis was already on bail for another matter after being charged with contravening an AVO (domestic) on January 25.
Her Legal Aid lawyer, Ms Hadlington said her client did not have sureties available and was currently staying in domestic violence accommodation.
There was discussion about whether her parents were willing to help with her situation.
“She’s in breach of bail. Basically they had a very long discussion and made an informed decision not to help her — it’s what her parents have told me,” Ms Hadlington said.
“The car I’m told is still at the car park. She is accessing alcohol services to address her problem.
“I don’t want to enter a plea today, a number of things are behind that.”
Magistrate Michelle Goodwin denied bail.
“She is currently on bail for other matters and has been charged with a serious drink driving matter,” Magistrate Goodwin said.
“There was a high reading and is on breach of bail for another matter. She’s been given premises by domestic violence services and has been there since June 25.
“First of all bail is opposed by prosecution on the basis she’s continuing to commit offences.
“In my view if she continues to offend, there are no conditions that can be put in place”.
Ms Kaglatzis broke down in tears during the matter while appearing through video.
Her bail was refused and she is set to remain in custody until the matter returns to court on July 21. Her other matter which includes contravening an AVO will be before the court on July 22.
