A teenager suffered a deep head wound when he had a bottle smashed over his head and beaten with a stick by two 14-year-old boys during an alleged daylight attack at a northern beaches bus stop.
The victim, 16, was taken to hospital with a severe skull laceration after the alleged assault at Mona Vale on January 28.
Police allege the 16-year-old boy was waiting at the northbound B-Line bus stop on Barrenjoey Rd, near Village Park, at about 2.30pm when he was approached by two boys aged 14.
A scuffle broke out and one of the younger boys allegedly hit the 16-year-old to the left side of his head with a bottle, causing a severe laceration.
It is alleged the other younger boy hit the victim with a stick during the attack.
A Northern Beaches Police spokesman said officers patrolling in the area came upon the alleged assault taking place.
“The officers saw a group of youths pushing and shoving at the B-line bus stop,” the spokesman said.
“The alleged offenders ran off towards the Mona Vale golf course when they saw police.”
They were arrested after a short foot pursuit.
A witness said on social media they saw the injured teenager boy with blood streaming from a large cut to the side of his head.
NSW Ambulance said he was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Northern Beaches Hospital in a stable condition.
The 14-year-olds were taken to Manly police station.
One of the teenagers was charged with reckless wounding in company.
The second teenager was charged after police executed a search warrant in Chatswood.
He was charged with reckless wounding in company and affray.
Both were granted conditional bail to appear before the Surry Hills Children’s Court on February 17.
