Manly Fish Cafe named as NSW’s best seafood restaurant
A NORTHERN beaches cafe has pipped big fish to be named NSW’s best seafood restaurant — and it’s an award judged by the people.

MANLY Fish Cafe has pipped big fish to win NSW’s best seafood restaurant.
The family-run business took out the people’s choice award at the Sydney Fish Market Seafood Excellence Awards.
Restaurateur Anil Dua is justifiably proud of the achievement.
“It is not a small thing — we have won for us and the community,” he said.
“We are very proud. We reached the finals last time but it is the first time that we have won.”
The Dua family took over the restaurant seven years ago.
Dishes such as grilled blue eye trevalla with saffron sauce on carrot and parsnip mash showcase the food.
Mr Dua said while the restaurant had a wide selection of fish options, fish and chips was a perennial favourite.
Fish and chips is the $15 Wednesday night special.
Award finalists included Flying Fish in Pyrmont, Manta at Woolloomooloo, Rick Stein at Bannisters, and previous two-time winner, Fish Cafe Balgowlah.
The biennial awards recognise the work and dedication of seafood retailers, restaurants and suppliers across 10 categories.
More than 18,000 seafood fans cast their votes across three public categories. Claudio’s Quality Seafoods won Best Seafood Retailer at Sydney Fish Market for the third consecutive time. The public chose Terrigal Beach Fish and Chip Co as the state’s best chippie; while the industry gong went to Pelican Rocks Cafe.
Pittwater Seafood at Mona Vale was highly commended in the Best Seafood Retailer category.
NSW Minister for Primary Industries Niall Blair pledged aquaculture and seafood industry support on the night.
“The seafood industry continues to thrive and diversify,” he said.
“The NSW Government’s aim is to increase the value of NSW primary industries by 30 per cent by 2020.”
