Man hospitalised after fight in Manly

A man was taken to hospital after suffering numerous deep lacerations to his face and head during an early morning fight on the northern beaches.

A MAN was taken to hospital after suffering numerous deep lacerations to his face and head during an early morning fight on the northern beaches.

Witnesses told police that the man, 50, from Manly, was severely beaten during a confrontation with another man on The Corso at Manly at 12.15am on Monday.

Acting Northern Beaches Crime manager Briana Ellis said the victim was walking near the intersection with Darley Rd when he and an unknown male being involved in an argument.

“The victim was then hit in the face,” Acting Insp Ellis said.

“He fell to the ground and was then punched several more times.

“The victim ended up with a severe laceration above his left eye and numerous other cuts that needed stitches.”

Bystanders across the road shouted at the attacker who then fled south along Darley Rd.

The man was treated by Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Northern Beaches Hospital.

Early on Monday afternoon a man presented himself to Manly Police Station before he was interviewed by detectives.
