Man charged after woman, 96, is allegedly struck and killed by a reversing tip truck

A man has been charged after a woman, 96, was killed when she was struck by a reversing tip truck on the northern beaches on Tuesday.

A man has been charged following the death of a 96-year-old woman who was allegedly knocked over while he was reversing on the northern beaches this morning.

The accident happened about 9.30am in Opala St, Belrose.

Police and emergency services were called following reports a tip truck had struck a 96-year-old woman.

On arrival, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics took over.

Despite their efforts, the woman died at the scene.

The 53-year-old male truck driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing before being taken to Manly Police Station.

The Frenchs Forest man was charged with negligent driving (occasioning death) and not reverse vehicle safely.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Manly Local Court on February 12.
