A WOMAN suffered stab wounds to her head during a knife attack on the northern beaches on Monday morning.
Police were called after neighbours heard a disturbance in a unit on Quirk Rd, Manly Vale just before 9.30am.
Officers found a woman, 61, with a number of wounds to her head and an arm.
Her daughter, aged in her mid-20s, had suffered a deep cut to an arm.
A Northern Beaches Police Area Command spokesman said initial reports suggested that an argument had broken out between the two women.
“The daughter allegedly produced a knife,” the spokesman said.
The older woman is in a serious but stable condition in Manly Hospital.
Her daughter was being assessed for mental health issues, but was expected to be charged soon.
