Jun Namgung: Man charged over importation of ‘ice’ to northern beaches hit with fresh charges
A man who delivers parcels on the northern beaches has fronted court again after being hit with a fresh charge of attempting to smuggle the drug ‘ice’ into Australia.

A parcel delivery man charged over the attempted airmail importation of the illegal drug ‘ice’ into the northern beaches has been hit with two more charges, Manly Local Court heard on Thursday.
Jun Namgung, 32, a mail contractor, was arrested in early November after police intercepted three separate packages of methylamphetamine sent from Mexico and The Netherlands.
The ice was allegedly packed into a shipments of rubber thongs and women’s handbags.
Mr Namgung, from Artarmon, was charged late last year by Northern Beaches detectives with three counts of possess commercial quantity of unlawful import: border controlled drug (attempted).
Manly Court heard on Thursday that Mr Namgung has now been charged with possessing a marketable quantity unlawful import — a border control drug — last year.
Police allege he tried to smuggle in 356 grams of ice.He was also charged with possessing a prohibited weapon.
Police will allege in court that Mr Namgung was using his contracted delivery driver job on the northern beaches in an attempt to receive known packages across his designated delivery areas.Australia Border Force officers allegedly found two packages of drugs at Australia Post parcel sorting facilities.
The packages, which were declared to contain handbags, were X-rayed.Police allege the bags were found to have false bottoms that concealed methylamphetamine, or ice.
Police allegedly seized about 2.3kg of ice from the packages.
Detectives from the Northern Beaches Police established Strike Force Pulleine to investigate the import.During the investigation, a third package, from The Netherlands addressed to a home on the northern beaches, was intercepted by Border Force officers at Australia Post’s Sydney Gateway Facility at Clyde.It allegedly contained 1kg of ice, packed in the soles of dozens of pairs of thongs.
Mr Namgung was arrested by investigators on Clifford St, Fairlight, about 11am on November 4.
Then, just before 5pm, police stopped a Honda Odyssey on Endeavour St, Chatswood, and seized electronic scales, a computer and postal contractor identification.
During a search of Mr Namgung’s home, police seized an electronic control device, laptops, a hard drive and electronic storage devices, Bitcoin documentation, drug paraphernalia consistent with supply, and a digital money counter.
Mr Namgung is in custody and did not apply for bail. He is yet to enter any pleas.He is due back in Manly Local Court on March 4.
