The name of an 88-year-old man who allegedly fired a bullet from a handgun into his neighbour’s home — belonging to Sea Eagles NRL coach Anthony Seibold — has been revealed in Manly Local Court.
John Joseph Langford, who lives next door to Seibold, is facing a string of firearms charges after bullet holes were discovered around the coach’s home in Pitt Rd, North Curl Curl.
Police will allege the garage door and a wooden fence were hit.
Police searched Langford’s property and allegedly discovered a .22 calibre pistol, a muzzle-loaded double barrel rifle and a box of ammunition, according to court documents.
Police alleged that Langford “did fire a .22 pistol with disregard for the safety of others and the property (belonging to Hollie Seibold)”.
The shot was allegedly fired at 11pm on January 20.
The court heard that Langford did not have any licences or permits to possess the guns and ammunition.
Langford is yet to enter pleas on the charges of firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons/property, two counts of possessing an unauthorised firearm and two counts of not keeping a firearm safely.
Seibold told Channel 9 news the day after the bullet holes were discovered that Langford was a “lovely neighbour” and that “unfortunately” a bullet “went through the garage”.
The matter was adjourned, for plea or mention, to March 18.
