Freshwater mums bring sartorial flair to restaurant Pilu ahead of a spring charity fashion parade

Work it! Model mums prepare to take to the fashion runway at Freshwater restaurant Pilu to benefit a northern beaches women’s refuge

LOCAL mums are preparing to strut their stuff at the Silverblue Spring Fashion Parade in Freshwater.

Seven mums will model labels from the local boutique, including Elk, Jasse, Fabrik and Mavi jeans, at Italian restaurant Pilu.

Funds raised from the ticket-only event will go to the Manly Warringah Women’s Resources Centre in Dee Why.

“I chose it because a friend stayed at the refuge, and because there are often children involved” said Silverblue’s owner Sue Reilly, who is herself mum to Ella, 16, and Johnny, 14.

“We live in a community and we have to be kind and generous. We have so much — too much — and I want to show that you don’t have to do something big to help.”

The models were recruited from Mrs Reilly’s netball team — and were more than happy to give up their time for a worthy cause.

“It’s such a small thing to be involved in, but it has a big benefit for charity,” said Sandra Toole. “It’s a real community event.”

Guests at the brunch will be treated to a selection of fruits, paninis, Italian pastries and coffee.

“It’s the whole Pilu experience during the day without paying dinner prices,” said Freshwater local Mrs Reilly.

Marilyn Annecchini, owner of Pilu, said, “We love being involved and supporting Sue’s chosen charities.

“It’s so important to support the local community. It’s always a fun day.”
