Plans for the newest watering hole on the northern beaches have been revealed.
The Forest Hotel, being built on the site of the old Parkway Hotel at Frenchs Forest, is set to open its doors in mid-November.
And right next door to the new pub, as part of a $45 million redevelopment on Frenchs Forest Rd East, a huge Dan Murphy’s bottle shop opens its doors at 9am in Saturday.
The major drinks and hospitality business Endeavour Group, which is the parent company of Dan Murphy’s and ALH (Australian Leisure & Hospitality) hotels, is behind the project.
It will eventually also include a six-stotey, 100-room hotel on the land that was once occupied by the old Skyline Drive-In theatre.
The Forest Hotel will feature a number of different areas to eat, including a restaurant and a casual al fresco, outdoor space. It will also include indoor and outdoor play areas for children.
ALH Group’s NSW manager, Lukas McKay, said the Parkway Hotel’s old customers would “l barely be able to recognise the new pub”.
“We have completely redesigned the exterior as well as the interior,” Mr Lukas said.
“We are hoping the Forest Hotel will be a great community hub, where families can come together to enjoy a nice meal or where you can watch the footy on the five-metrer mega screen in the sports bar with your friends.
“The interiors have been completely reimagined with lots of light and a focus on the use of natural materials, greenery and designer lighting.”
The outside of the pub will feature black steel and timber archways, white brick pavers.
At Dan Murphy’s, next door, customers can buy anything from their favourites six-pack through to top-end wines and spirits.
Store manager Owen Scotchbrook said.it has three state-of-the-art wine fridges filled with Bordeaux and Australian premium wine, including back vintages of Penfolds Grange.
“The highlight is without a doubt an extremely rare 1952 Penfolds Grange – the first Penfolds Grange vintage to be released commercially – which retails for $17,500,” he said.
The shop is also offering a variety of locally made drinks including offerings from Manly Spirits and craft brews from the local Modus Operandi Brewing Company and Nomad Brewing Co.
The store has 2-hour contactless home delivery to locals as well as a Direct to Boot service; a free pick-up option, which means customers order online, drive to the store and park in a dedicated parking area, and stay in their car while a team member places the order in the customer’s car boot.
The Frenchs Forest Dan Murphy’s has created 22 jobs in the area, including a dedicated wine Merchant who will help customers find their new favourite drop or a wine for a special occasion.
Doors open for the first time at 9am on Saturday.
