An elderly woman was hurt after the car she was driving flipped on a northern beaches street on Tuesday night.
The small hatchback overturned on the corner of Government Rd and Mills Pl at Beacon Hill just before 6.30pm.
A resident said it appeared the car tipped on to its roof when the driver failed to negotiate a turn after the car headed east down the steep gradient on Mills Pl.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the woman suffered some bruising and was in shock. She was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for observation.
Police blocked Government Rd to through traffic more than an hour so the car could be removed by a tow truck.
A NSW Fire & Rescue truck cleaned up a small oil spill.
