A man in his 60s who allegedly bashed a couple during a terrifying late night home invasion on the northern beaches, has appeared in Manly Local Court.
The court heard that Edwin Ah Loh, 67, of Eastwood, drove, with another man, to Killarney Heights on February 17 where they allegedly violently forced their way into a two-storey house.
Police will allege that Mr Loh, and his co-accused, aged 57, then assaulted 53-year-old Jurong Wang in the house at about 10.40pm.
When the alleged victims’s female partnerKai Lu, 43, tried to intervene, she was allegedly punched in the head.
Mr Loh, who appeared in court on Wednesday via audio-video link from his solicitor’s city office, has been charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter with intent — inflict actual bodily harm.
He is yet to enter a plea.
Police will also allege that neighbours heard noises and restrained Mr Loh’s co-accused.
When officers arrived they arrested the co-accused along with Mr Loh.
It will be alleged in court that the incident was not a random event and that the two accused know the alleged victims.
Mr Loh’s solicitor Kiki Kyriacou asked Magistrate Scott Nash for a police brief of evidence to be served on his client.
Mr Nash adjourned the matter, for mention, to Manly Local Court on May 12.
