SHOCKING road rage footage posted on social media shows the moment a man unleashed multiple punches on a 63-year-old motorist during a traffic light stop in Frenchs Forest.
The dashcam video clip, taken at the intersection of Forest Way and Adams St last month,
shows a man opening the door of a vehicle behind him before throwing a punch at the driver.
The victim, who is driving a silver Hyundai i30 hatchback, then “blacked out”, according to police, as footage shows his vehicle rolling forward and pushing the attacker’s stationary Mazda ute closer to the middle of the intersection.
Dressed in high-vis work clothes, the accused can then be seen opening the victim’s door again before throwing multiple punches, according to police.
Following this, the vision shows the younger driver walking back to his ute and driving off.
The footage, filmed with a camera on the dashboard of a truck stopped at the lights behind the incident, ends with another truck driver pulling up alongside the victim before walking towards him to check on his welfare.
Police said the victim was left bleeding from an ear and his nose. He sustained numerous minor scratches to his face.
He also showed signs of concussion.
Officers found blood spattered on the inside of the Hyundai and the victim was treated by paramedics and taken to Hornsby Hospital.
Four witnesses to the attack have given statements to police.
A 20-year-old from Berkeley Vale, on the Central Coast, has been charged over the incident.
Police said the accused had attended Wyong Police Station to report an incident to police.
He was later charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of failing to exchange particulars after a motor vehicle accident.
He was given a court attendance notice to appear in Manly Local Court on June 27.
Northern Beaches Police acting crime commander Guy Magee told the Manly Daily incidences of violent road rage were uncommon on the peninsula.
“So to see something like this matter makes it all the more shocking,” Acting Inspector Magee said.
“Our advice to motorists involved in a potentially violent incident on the roads is not to get out of their vehicle and to immediately contact police.”
