Police are seeking public help to identify a young man who climbed on to the roof of the Frenchs Forest police station in the early hours of Saturday, December 1.
The man appeared to be oblivious to the presence of the CCTV cameras mounted on the walls of the station.
Northern Beaches Crime Manager Insp Michael Boutouridis said the young man was walking west along Frenchs Forest Rd West about 2.50am on December 1 when he walked into the grounds of the police station and then climbed on to the roof.
He said the young man was on the roof of the station for about 30 seconds before climbing down and continuing to walk west on Frenchs Forest Rd West.
Members of the Police Rescue Squad checked the roof of the station for any damage.
Insp Boutouridis said police want to know who the young man is and why he took the unusual step of climbing on to the roof of the police station.
He said that in the current climate, climbing on to the roof of a police station could be seen to have a sinister motive.
The man was described as being in his late teens or early 20s, of Caucasian appearance and of slim to medium build.
He was wearing a dark blue long-sleeved sweater, shorts and a blue baseball cap.
Anyone with information is urged to call Dee Why police station on 9971 3399 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
