A man accused of an alcohol-fuelled attack over four stolen pies that left a teenager with possible brain damage appeared in Manly Local Court on Wednesday.
Caleb Thompson, 20, is charged with grievous bodily harm for allegedly picking up and dropping the 18-year-old on his head at Newport’s 7-Eleven outlet on June 30.

The injured man was left with a fractured skull, collarbone and nose, as well as a suspected brain haemorrhage and possible permanent brain damage.
Mr Thompson, an apprentice carpenter from Balgowlah Heights, was allegedly intoxicated when he was confronted by the teenager over the alleged theft of four pies from the convenience store.
In his first appearance in court on July 11, Mr Thompson was denied bail after his mother declined to pay a $30,000 surety to the court.
But the next day the surety was paid and Mr Thompson was released on strict conditional bail by Magistrate Michelle Goodwin.
Prosecutors allege the Balgowlah Heights man messaged his pals the day after the alleged attack and joked “I knocked the f … out of someone … you would love it … I thought he’d died”.
Mr Thompson has pleaded guilty to stealing the pies but has yet to enter a plea to the charge of grievous bodily harm.
On Wednesday Magistrate Christopher Longley ordered that Mr Thompson appear at the Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on October 3 for charge certification.
Bail was continued.
