A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy has been flown to hospital with injuries to his legs after being hit by a reversing car at Spit Bridge this morning.
Paramedics were called about 9.40am, after the incident in the carpark of the Spit West Reserve between Manly and Mosman.
A NSW Police spokesman said the child suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after he was allegedly hit by a reversing car.
The boy, who was believed to have suffered injuries to the upper part of both legs, was stabilised by an ambulance crew before he was taken by CareFlight to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
A spokesman for CareFlight said the boy suffered multiple lower limb injuries when he fell from his bike and was then allegedly run over by a sports utility vehicle at low speed.
He said the rapid response rescue helicopter was called shortly before 10am, landing after an eight minute flight in the reserve near the scene.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further treatment to the boy, who remained conscious after the accident.
The spokesman said the child was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.
Police said a crime scene had been established and officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit would be conducting investigations.
The male driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
