A man has been charged with assaulting, and then following, a teenage boy near a popular Sydney surf beach.
Bijay Koirala, 33, of Dee Why, allegedly assaulted the 13-year-old schoolboy on The Strand, a street that runs parallel to Dee Why Beach.
Police will allege in Manly Local Court that Mr Koirala then followed the teenager into Ted Jackson Reserve, a park just behind the beach at abut 3.30pm on February 14 this year.
Mr Koirala appeared in Manly Local Court on Wednesday seeking an adjournment.
His solicitor told the Court Registrar that he wanted time to make representations to Northern Beaches Police in respect to the offences his client had been charged with.
Mr Koirala is facing one count each of common assault and stalk/ intimidate cause fear of physical or mental harm.
He is yet to enter a plea.
The Registrar adjourned the matters, for plea or mention, to Manly court on May 11.
His bail was continued.
