A man was taken to hospital and a home destroyed by fire on the northern beaches.
The detached granny flat in Wyatt Ave, Belrose, caught alight during the searing heatwave conditions on Sunday afternoon.
Brigades from NSW Fire and Rescue and the Rural Fire Service were called in to tackle the fire.
A vehicle and machinery parked next to the dwelling were also engulfed in flame.
Dramatic pictures show the fire spreading from the building across the garden.
A male occupant of the home was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Witnesses said he tried putting the fire out with a garden hose.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to fight the fire.
The cause of the blaze was examined by NSW Fire and Rescue investigators. But is understood the fire may started in machinery next to the granny flat.
